My Desktop's SSD failed last night, I opened Notepad and the drive locked up... Windows became unresponsive. Reboot and all I saw was solid red drive light, the Windows 8 Logo and that was that.
None of my Boot USB Sticks would open up. I pulled the drive this morning and stuck it in a caddy and it locked up my Laptop with the solid read light stuck on. When I finally got to Disk Management I found only 100Mb of the drive was readable the other 59GB had become blank and useless.
So this drive is 2 and half years old, the manufacturers warranty states it's covered for 3 years but guess what? OCZ made this drive and they went belly up and got bought out by Toshiba and their response on the OCZ site is. "Hey you bought this drive right well, it's a end of life product and we won't honour the warranty so get lost."
Well screw them I went and bought another Sandisk Ultra II SSD and I won't be buying anymore OCZ/Toshiba branded products, my PSU is also made by the former OCZ and the other company who bought that bit of the business well guess what? My warranty on that is honoured and still valid for another 2 years and that my friends is called customer service.
